Ludger Schadomsky studied African Languages and Political Science at the universities of Cologne and Cape Town. After covering the “Mandela magic”, South Africa’s democratic transition, in the mid-90s, he joined DW in 1998, but later returnd to freelancing, covering hot spots like Liberia, Somalia, DR Congo and others. In 2006 Ludger was put in charge of DW’s Ethiopian language service, established in 1965 and serving to provide free information in a highly restricted media environment. Ludger’s book “Africa – a continent of change” was published to coincide with the first-ever Worldcup on African soil in 2010. His second Africa book is due out shortly.
